Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Keon Broxton made an early exit from Friday's game at Wrigley Field, departing in the third inning with an apparent right wrist injury after crashing into the outfield wall.

Broxton, making his 58th start of the season in center field, appeared to be in considerable pain after crashing into the ivy as he hauled in a Tommy La Stella line drive, clutching his wrist as he lay on the ground and prompting left fielder Ryan Braun to call for the trainer. Following a quick examination, Broxton was gingerly escorted off the field and replaced by Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

After the game, Broxton confirmed to reporters he suffered a broken wrist. Though he won't need surgery, the injury will take six to eight weeks to heal, which will end his season.

Since being recalled from Triple-A in late July, Broxton has impressed on the field and at the plate, hitting .289/.392/.535 in 44 contests. Through 74 games in 2016, the 26-year-old owns a .776 OPS (105 OPS+) with nine homers and 22 stolen bases.
