Sam Hinkie to serve as guest lecturer at Stanford

It was no 13-page letter, but Sam Hinkie made a little noise in a very quiet basketball world Wednesday, posting a series of tweets - the first in his seven years on the social media platform.

In one of them, the former Philadelphia 76ers general manager revealed his plans to teach at Stanford University.

"I've always been focused on learning as fast as I can and figuring out how I can do things better. So a period like this felt super rare," Hinkie said. "And there may be no better place on the planet to learn right now than right here."

Later on, in a response obtained by Deadspin, Stanford’s Graduate School of Business revealed that Hinkie would conduct a few guest lectures.

We are excited that former General Manager and President of Basketball Operations of the Philadelphia 76ers, Sam Hinkie, will be a guest speaker in one or more class sessions in our sports management courses at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). This furthers the GSB priority of including dozens of guest speakers each year who provide real-world perspective into management issues.

Hinkie, known and even revered in some circles for his extreme roster-building "process," was forced out as Sixers GM in April.
