All eight referees that worked Saturday's controversial affair between Oklahoma State and Central Michigan have been suspended by the MAC, while the two replay officials have been suspended by the Big 12.

Each suspension will last two games.

"After a thorough review and evaluation of the entire Central Michigan at Oklahoma State contest, we have decided to suspend the officiating crew for the next two consecutive weeks," MAC coordinator of officials Bill Carollo said in a statement.

The field crew was heavily scrutinized after they wrongly gave Central Michigan an untimed down at the end of the game. The Chippewas used the final play to produce a miraculous game-winning touchdown. Despite the blatant officiating error, the game's result could not be overturned.

The eight referees came from the MAC, while the two-person replay crew was supplied by the Big 12.

In a statement of his own, Big 12 coordinator of officials Walt Anderson said his crew should have alerted the referees of their misapplication of the rules while the play was being reviewed.

"NCAA rules permit instant replay to correct egregious errors, and it is unacceptable that it did not occur in this situation," Anderson said.

The two replay officials were also stripped of their eligibility to work this season's bowl games.
