Jose Fernandez's dominance pitching at home continued in a big way Friday, as the 24-year-old Miami Marlins ace struck out 14 batters for the third time this year.

With Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw making his long-awaited return to the mound, Fernandez stole the show, coasting through seven scoreless innings, tying his career high once again with 14 strikeouts. It's the fifth time in his young career that he's struck out 14 batters in a game.

After Friday's win, Fernandez continued his near-perfect pitching at Marlins park. In 41 career starts, he's 28-2 with a 1.53 ERA and 334 strikeouts.

The phenom has built a strong case for the National League Cy Young award, despite talk of him being shut down early due to an innings limit if the Marlins are eliminated from playoff contention.

Fernandez is 14-8 with a 2.90 ERA as he leads the league in both K/9 (12.8) and FIP (2.28).
