McDavid excited at chance to center Eichel, Gaudreau

North America is teeming with enormous talent, but no line combination sings quite like Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, and Johnny Gaudreau.

The three uber-skilled forwards practiced together Friday after having a hand in Team North America's dominant win over Europe in its World Cup tuneup, and the unit's fulcrum admitted afterward that he's excited about the current configuration.

"If it's us three, then perfect," McDavid told Postmedia's Michael Traikos. "Who better to play with than those two?"

Eichel, meanwhile, acknowledged he has an incredibly rare opportunity to share a line with two world-class talents.

"People say we're the future of the league," he told Traikos, "but it's nice to play with these guys. You might never be able to do it again."

McDavid centered Jonathan Drouin and Mark Scheifele versus Europe, while Eichel and Gaudreau skated with Brandon Saad.

The trio is expected to remain intact for Saturday's rematch at Bell Centre.
