Skaggs to undergo MRI after experiencing forearm tightness

Injury concerns continue to trouble Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs, as the left-hander will miss Wednesday's start with forearm tightness and undergo an MRI, the team announced after Tuesday's game against Minnesota.

"You're always concerned, for sure, with any pitcher," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "With Tyler's history, obviously we're going to err on the side of caution. We'll wait and see. He'll have some tests tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a little bump in the road."

Skaggs underwent Tommy John surgery in 2014 and returned to the Angels' rotation at the end of July. He's made nine starts, going 3-3 with a 4.16 ERA, but was pitching well as of late, with a 1.50 ERA and only seven walks with 21 strikeouts in his past three appearances.

If Skaggs were to miss an extended period of time, he would become the Angels' sixth starter to go down with a long-term injury, joining Garrett Richards, C.J. Wilson, Matt Shoemaker, Andrew Heaney, and Nick Tropeano.
