Correia willing to meet 'Cyborg' at catchweight

Bethe Correia usually avoids fighting her fellow Brazilians, but she'll make an exception for Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino.

The UFC women's bantamweight contender recently expressed her interest in fighting "Cyborg," who's scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 95 in their native Brazil on Sept. 24 against Lina Lansberg.

"Even though I don’t like to fight a fellow Brazilian, I’d be proud to fight Cris Cyborg," Correia said, according to MMAFighting's Guilherme Cruz. "I know I’m capable of beating Cris Cyborg. I don’t see her as an unbeatable opponent. I always watch her fights, and I see ways to win. I’d fight her, for sure."

Before she gets a crack at the knockout artist, Correia will have to get past Jessica Eye at UFC 203 on Saturday. A win would snap "Pitbull's" two-fight losing streak that began in a title fight against then-champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 190, where Correia was knocked out in 34 seconds.

If the two Brazilians were to square off, it'd likely be at a catchweight, as Justino, the current Invicta FC featherweight queen, has had difficulty making weight in the past. Correia says she's willing to accommodate.

"I only weigh a bit over 145. I’d do a catchweight like she’s doing in the UFC, at 140 pounds. I’d do it, no problem," Correia said.

Justino made her UFC debut against Leslie Smith at UFC 198, winning by TKO in 81 seconds. As in that fight, she'll meet Lansberg at a catchweight of 140 pounds.
