As Arsenal's midfield becomes increasingly crowded with talent, it appears a club favourite will make way to find playing time elsewhere.

Oft-injured Englishman Jack Wilshere seems set to leave the Emirates, with David Ornstein of the BBC reporting that the 24-year-old is nearing a loan move to Bournemouth.

The report comes after a proposed move to Italian side Roma broke down, despite the Giallorossi having apparently agreed to personal terms.

Bournemouth - where Wilshere would be reunited with close friend Benik Afobe - also looks destined to pip Crystal Palace to the skillful midfielder; Eagles boss Alan Pardew confirmed earlier in the day that he was involved in the sweepstakes.

The Arsenal academy product has seen his promising career blighted by a string of significant injuries, making just 17 Premier League appearances in the last two seasons. Wilshere featured in just three matches last season due to a broken foot.

A daring dribbler with impressive passing range, Wilshere has also garnered just 37 minutes of action through three matches this season, as manager Arsene Wenger can choose from a wide array of options in central midfield. Incumbents Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny, and Francis Coquelin can all occupy the same area of the pitch, and the high-priced signing of Swiss star Granit Xhaka only figures to push Wilshere further down the pecking order.
