Report: LA Galaxy's Nigel de Jong finalising move to Galatasaray

Nigel de Jong's hellish time in the City of Angels is reportedly nearing its end.

According to Taylor Twellman of ESPN, the LA Galaxy and De Jong are in the process of finalising a move that will see the Dutch midfielder join Galatasaray before the closure of the summer transfer window.

Should De Jong abandon the Galaxy, the 31-year-old will leave Major League Soccer with a woeful tally of zero goals, zero assists, 18 appearances, three yellow cards, one red card, and one horrific tackle on Darlington Nagbe that resulted in an ankle sprain and a three-game suspension. Simply put, his time in Los Angeles hasn't gone to plan.

De Jong joined the Galaxy in February, one week after his contract with AC Milan was mutually terminated. The move followed transfers of Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole to the club.

However, unlike Gerrard, De Jong arrived in MLS as a Premier League champion, having been part of Manchester City's squad which won the 2011-12 Premier League season in one of the most exciting conclusions to a campaign in the history of English football.

De Jong's resume also includes stops with the likes of Ajax and Hamburger SV, and he helped the Netherlands reach the final of the 2010 World Cup among other accomplishments.
