Report: Athletics trade Crisp to Indians

Coco Crisp is reportedly on his way back to where his MLB career began.

The Oakland Athletics traded the veteran outfielder to the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, according to John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group. The deal is not expected to become official until Wednesday, though Hickey reports Crisp has already left the A's clubhouse.

The 15-year veteran, who had to waive his 10-and-5 rights to accept the deal, broke into the majors with the Indians in 2002 and spent four seasons in Cleveland. He's played the last seven seasons in Oakland but is in the final year of his contract.

Crisp has battled injuries throughout his career but managed to appear in 102 games with the Athletics this season. The switch-hitter is slashing .234/.299/.399 with 11 home runs, 24 doubles, and seven stolen bases.

The American League Central-leading Indians have no shortage of outfielders, with Tyler Naquin, Abraham Almonte, Lonnie Chisenhall, Rajai Davis, and Brandon Guyer all on the major-league roster. Almonte, however, is ineligible to play in the postseason due to a previous PED suspension.
