Georgia's Chubb to return for season opener vs. North Carolina

Georgia received a much needed boost Thursday when head coach Kirby Smart confirmed that running back Nick Chubb is set to see action in the Bulldogs season opener against North Carolina at the Georgia Dome, reports Anthony Dasher from Atlanta's 11alive.com.

"I think everybody's in line to get carries," Smart said after practice Wednesday. "Nick's in line, Elijah (Holyfield's) in line, Brian (Herrien's) in line, Brendan Douglas is in line, Tae Crowder's in line. All those guys are in line to get carries."

Smart didn't comment on the status of running back Sony Michel in his recovery from a broken arm, meaning Chubb's replacement in 2015 will likely need quite a bit more time before he's game ready.

Chubb was stellar in 2015 before going down with a knee injury, rushing for 747 yards in just five full games before being injured Oct. 10 on his first carry against Tennessee.
