DeAndre Yedlin is currently in Newcastle to complete a medical before joining the Magpies on a permanent transfer from Tottenham, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.
The 23-year-old U.S. international - who spent last season on the other side of the Tyne-Wear divide at Sunderland - is expected to replace the outgoing Daryl Janmaat on the right flank.

Aston Villa had emerged as a potential landing spot for Yedlin, but the Villans opted to bring in Ritchie De Laet from Leicester City instead.
ESPN FC also suggested that Sunderland could re-sign the American on a permanent deal, but nothing has come of that report.
Yedlin only played 11 Premier League minutes for Tottenham after sealing a move from the Seattle Sounders in 2014. He spent the remainder of the 2014 MLS season in Cascadia as he waited to secure a work permit.
Interest in Yedlin from several European clubs ramped up as a result of his performances at the 2014 World Cup, where he made an incredible impact as a late substitute for the U.S.
