Report: Lesnar, Jericho in physical confrontation backstage after SummerSlam

The bloody ending to WWE SummerSlam on Sunday night at the Barclays Center carried over to the backstage area shortly after the show went off the air.

"The Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar defeated "The Viper" Randy Orton in the main event after pummeling his head with stiff punches and elbows until the third-generation superstar was busted wide open. This forced the official to call for the bell, awarding the former UFC Heavyweight Champion the victory via TKO.

Chris Jericho, who teamed with Kevin Owens to beat Enzo Amore and Big Cass to open the show, appeared at the gorilla position to check on Orton's status following the match, sources told the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer. He apparently wasn't aware of what the finish to Lesnar-Orton was, asking agent/producer Michael Hayes if Orton's bleeding was planned.

When Hayes wouldn't respond, Y2J reportedly said, "That's bullshit," which was overheard by Lesnar when he made his way to the back. Lesnar was under the impression that Jericho was bashing his match, and either called him a "pussy" or told him to "shut up," two different sources informed Meltzer.

Lesnar and Jericho then reportedly went nose-to-nose, with Jericho either shoving Lesnar's face or pushing him against the wall after he himself was pushed, at which point Lesnar asked him to either punch or kiss him.

WWE executive vice president of talent Paul "Triple H" Levesque intervened and broke the two up. His presence wasn't enough to keep them apart for long, though, so company chairman Vince McMahon was forced to step in, telling Jericho to act professionally as the Lesnar-Orton ending was merely a work.

Levesque informed McMahon that it was Lesnar who started the altercation, and that Jericho was merely standing up for himself. Orton eventually emerged, reportedly telling Jericho that he knew how everything in the match with Lesnar was going to turn out.
