Michael Bennett kicked out of practice

Two Seattle Seahawks were forced to watch practice from the sidelines Sunday. Fiery defensive end Michael Bennett got into it with left tackle Bradley Sowell and had to be separated by teammates, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.

Kapadia reports that Sowell first shoved defensive end Josh Shirley to the ground, then Bennett jumped in for his defensive linemate and ended up on the ground with Sowell.

The two were separated, but began grappling again. At that point, they were sent to the sidelines.

"(Bennett)'s just fighting for his own a little bit," head coach Pete Carroll said. "One of the young guys got knocked around, and he was standing up for him. He's got a lot of pride. He's an incredible competitor, but he's got to make sure he stays poised so he doesn't get himself in trouble. So we had a good illustration of that today."

It isn't the first or last training camp scuffle, but with added emphasis on personal fouls going into the 2016 season, the Seahawks are hoping their players will learn from what transpired.

"There's parts of it that are good, but ultimately you don't want either one of them fighting or doing that," offensive line coach Tom Cable said. "And they've got to learn how to manage that because that stuff's going to happen in the game. And if you do it in the game, you're going to get thrown out, and they're going to take your money. So a good lesson for both (Sowell) and Mike. Both guys are wrong, and they've got to learn to do right."
