Charlotte regains Women's Championship from Banks at SummerSlam

The Boss' reign as WWE Women's Champion is over before it even had a chance to get underway.

Charlotte, the daughter of two-time Hall of Famer Ric Flair, became a two-time Women's Champion on Sunday night at SummerSlam when she defeated Sasha Banks in the center of the ring at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

With Banks locking in her signature Bank Statement submission hold, Charlotte reversed her positioning and pinned her opponent's shoulders to the mat for a three count, stunning the over 15,000 members of the WWE Universe in attendance.

The turning point in the matchup came early on when Charlotte attempted to deliver a sidewalk slam onto Banks across the top turnbuckle. Unfortunately, Charlotte dropped the Boston native on the way down, with Banks landing head first on the mat.

Charlotte began targeting Banks' back with stiff shots and kicks from that moment on, as it appeared that she was legitimately hurt from the seemingly botched move.

Banks, who was wearing gear similar to what she donned at WrestleMania 32 as a tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero, paid homage to a famous spot of Latino Heat's when she reversed a Splash Mountain off the top rope into a hurricanrana.

Banks won the gold on the first Monday Night Raw following WWE's brand-extension draft on Aug. 1. It was her first title win on the main roster since debuting on July 13 of last year as part of the women's revolution.

Charlotte improves to 8-1 in pay-per-view matches in 2016, the most of any competitor, male or female. Her 14-2 record at special events to begin her career is also the best in WWE history.
