White says Diaz-McGregor trilogy will wait

Both Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor are calling for a rubber match now that they've gotten the best of each other once. Dana White has other plans.

"We're definitely not doing this a third time now," White said in an interview after UFC 202 on FOX Sports 1.

While the UFC boss acknowledged the undeniable appeal of a third fight to truly settle what's become a historic rivalry, White said McGregor's first order of business would be to either defend or vacate the featherweight title. McGregor reportedly said post-fight he wasn't interested in a rematch against interim champ Jose Aldo, who he knocked out to win the belt at UFC 194.

As for Diaz, White was mum on whether he would stay at welterweight, where he fought McGregor both times, or move back down to his natural lightweight.

When asked about lightweight-turned-welterweight Donald Cerrone, who finished Rick Story via second-round TKO, White said he'd much rather see Cerrone continue his run at 170 pounds than move back down to 155. Cerrone, now 3-0 in his new division, recently voiced a desire to challenge lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez for the division crown.

Cerrone beat Alvarez by unanimous decision at UFC 178.
