Anthony Johnson gave Glover Teixeira a lot more than he asked for.
In typically destructive fashion, Johnson knocked Teixeira out cold in just 13 seconds at UFC 202 on Saturday. "Rumble" met the Brazilian in the center of the cage, landing a right uppercut square to Teixeira's chin. To the surprise of few, the one punch was all Johnson needed for the victory.
Teixeira, who asked for the fight after winning three straight, is eating his words with one less tooth, as Johnson knocked one loose in the process. The knockout is the first Teixeira has suffered since his first professional fight 14 years ago.
The victory, Johnson's third in a row, makes him the next logical challenger for Daniel Cormier's light heavyweight title, and he knows it, calling Cormier out immediately after the fight. The two last fought for the strap at UFC 187, a fight Cormier won by rear-naked choke in the third round.
All of Johnson's last three victories have come by knockout. He is now tied for second with Anderson Silva for the most knockouts in UFC history with 11.
