Chicago Bulls shooting guard Dwyane Wade sat down with actor Jamie Foxx for Variety and Mercedes-Benz USA recently, discussing how he accepted his underdog status.
"I was always the underdog, and it was OK because I embraced that," Wade said. "That just pushed me and pushed me, and even getting drafted fifth pick in the NBA, I was still an underdog."
Wade also spoke about how hard his dad pushed him as a kid.
"My dad was one of those coaches, you've heard it before, nothing I did was good enough," he said. "We had 34 points, I had 30, and that wasn't good enough."
