As the 2016 college football season approaches, Michigan will not have two of its freshman players with them until further notice.

The Wolverines have suspended defensive end Shelton Johnson and wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell, according to The Associated Press. Head coach Jim Harbaugh initially refused to give reporters the names of the two players, however an athletic department spokesman for Michigan has confirmed the suspensions.

Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 212-pound defensive end did not see any game action in 2015, while Mitchell is an incoming four-star freshman from the 2016 recruiting class.

Mitchell is rated 216th on the ESPN 300 and committed to Michigan over offers from Florida State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Stanford among others.

Harbaugh told reporters Monday that any discipline for the two players would be handled internally, and did not give a reason as to why the players were suspended.
