Packers' Lacy feels 'more explosive' after offseason training

An extensive offseason workout program appears to be paying off for Eddie Lacy.

The Green Bay Packers running back spent time training with P90X founder Tony Horton during his time away from the team facilities and has come out of his preseason debut feeling better than in years past.

"I feel more explosive, yeah," Lacy said, according to the team's official website.

Lacy received four carries Friday in Green Bay's 17-11 win over the Cleveland Browns, compiling a total of 24 yards that included a long run of 11 yards.

"It's how fast you make the cut, how fast you get north and south out of the cut, and how fast you're able to put your pad level down," Lacy said. "And once you and the defender make contact, who goes back or if it stalemates."

As the Packers look to get back on track after a down season for their typically dominant offense, they'll presumably focus on establishing a consistent ground game. Lacy's in a position to benefit from that strategy as the unquestioned featured back throughout the year - provided he can remain in top shape.

The 26-year-old enters his fourth season looking to recapture the level of play he enjoyed as a sophomore in 2014. Lacy averaged an impressive 4.6 yards per carry en route to a 1,139-yard, nine-touchdown performance across 16 starts, adding another 427 yards and four scores in the passing game.
