A-Rod goes 1-for-4 in final game with Yankees

If that was it for Alex Rodriguez it was somewhat anti-climactic, as the New York Yankees designated hitter finished his career in pinstripes with a 1-for-4 performance that included a first-inning RBI double, and a groundout to shortstop in his final at-bat.

Moments later, Joe Girardi sent his soon-to-be released star to third base for the ninth inning before removing him after one out to a standing ovation.

The one-third of an inning at third base was A-Rod's 1,194th career game at the hot corner. He played 1,272 games at shortstop during the beginning of his career.

Meanwhile, the first-inning double was A-Rod's 548th of his remarkable 22-year career, moving him into sole possession of 30th place on baseball's all-time list.
