Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

LSU wide receiver Tyron Johnson announced Thursday he's transferring out of the Tigers' program.

"I would like to thank LSU and the great coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play for them at the highest level of college football and I would like to thank my family and fans for supporting me during my time at LSU," Johnson wrote on Twitter. "I will miss my brothers and playing in Death Valley, I have been granted my release and I will be transferring."

The four-star recruit recorded nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns in nine games played last season.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver was rated No. 3 for his position in the nation coming out of high school.
