Without a hint of irony, Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, otherwise known as the NFL's king of finishing around .500, told his team on the premiere of HBO's "Hard Knocks" that he won't accept a 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 record in 2016.

Warning: Contains explicit language

The problem is, history isn't on Fisher's side.

Since he led the Tennessee Titans to a 13-3 record in 2008, Fisher's teams have been almost unbelievably good at being average.

Year Team Wins Losses Ties
2009 Titans 8 8 -
2010 Titans 6 10 -
2012 Rams 7 8 1
2013 Rams 7 9 -
2014 Rams 6 10 -
2015 Rams 7 9 -

Sure, Jeff. We'll believe it when we see it.
