Schilling announces plans to run for president in 2024

Curt Schilling, the six-time-All-Star-turned-analyst-turned-amateur-political-commentator, announced Sunday on his Facebook page he intends to run for president in 2024.

In the comments of a post in which he decried the "fraudulent" Democratic party, Schilling - a staunch Republican whose penchant for sharing inflammatory political memes led to his termination from ESPN in April - laid out his plans to take over as head of state eight years from now.

Schilling noted, however, that he could run for presidential election as soon as 2020 "if by some amazing illegal event this country elects another Clinton."

In April, when Schilling was fired by ESPN for his "unacceptable" conduct after sharing an anti-transgender meme on his Facebook page, the 49-year-old fired back at the network, calling them "outwardly bigoted" and accusing them of being anti-Republican.

"The only irony in this for me is that a company that is outwardly bigoted and intolerant is calling itself inclusive," Schilling told Dan Patrick at the time.

Schilling continued: "The other thing that really jumped out at me was people would talk — you know, the green room where everybody hangs out, it’s the ESPN version of the locker room — a lot of times people would be like, they would come up to me and whisper, 'Hey man, I'm with ya, I'm a Republican,' as if we were the secret card-carrying members of some group that couldn’t be, the 'those who shall not be named.' The inclusiveness is inclusive as long as you are pointing in the same direction."
