Following Mark Teixeira's emotional announcement Friday that he would retire from baseball at the conclusion of the season, the New York Yankees first baseman didn't waste any time in getting back into the hit column.

After receiving a roaring ovation from the Yankees faithful in attendance as he walked to the plate, Teixeira hammered a double off Cleveland Indians starter Josh Tomlin to the right-field corner.

Teixeira spent eight of his 14 seasons in the big leagues with New York, hammering 201 of his 404 career home runs as a member of the organization.

The 36-year-old is just one of five switch-hitters to hit 400 home runs, joining Mickey Mantle, Chipper Jones, Eddie Murray, and Carlos Beltran.
