Report: Giants hosting Hall on free-agent visit, Bengals still interested
The New York Giants may not be done with free agency just yet.
Veteran cornerback Leon Hall is at the team's training camp facility in East Rutherford on Wednesday for an official visit, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
New York, still looking to address what had previously been a concerning defensive backfield situation, first expressed interest in Hall following this year's draft.
The Cincinnati Bengals, Schefter adds, are the main competition for the 31-year-old's services. Despite allowing him to test the open market after nine seasons, Cincinnati is still interested in a reunion heading into the fall.
If signed in New York, the 31-year-old would be joining high-priced free-agent addition Janoris Jenkins and first-rounder Eli Apple alongside Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for a much-improved cornerback group.
Hall's presence as a reliable slot contributor would allow the Giants to use Jenkins and Rodgers-Cromartie exclusively on the boundary in nickel sets, meanwhile remaining patient with Apple's early career development.
Cincinnati's interest has likely only increased following an injury to first-round pick William Jackson III in training camp, presumably making it imperative for the Giants to close a deal when they have the chance.
