That's more like it.

Tiger Woods bounced back in a big way Friday at the Hero World Challenge, firing a bogey-free 7-under 65, and effectively erasing his back-nine debacle in the opening round.

He finished the day in a tie for ninth, and sits six shots off the lead held by Dustin Johnson, who shot 66 for the second consecutive round.

Entering the round in second last, Woods was forced to play alone after Justin Rose withdrew with a back injury, and was strong from start to finish.

He shot an identical 3-under 33 on the front nine, but, thanks to improved driving accuracy and tighter approaches, was able to find consistency and deliver a promising round.

Woods even gave fans a glimpse of his emotion, providing a celebratory fist pump - albeit a smaller one than usual - after draining a long par on 16 to preserve his bogey-free round.

Only Bubba Watson and Brandt Snedeker turned in better rounds than Woods in the 17-man field.
