McCollum, Blazers agree to 4-year extension worth reported $106M

The Portland Trail Blazers and shooting guard C.J. McCollum have agreed to terms on a four-year max-contract extension, the team announced. It's worth $106 million, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal includes no options or trade kickers, reports Wojnarowski.

Locking up the 24-year-old was a priority for Portland, and while the number may raise some eyebrows, that's the current market value for players of his caliber. McCollum could have become a restricted free agent next summer, and would have been sure to receive a max offer sheet from somewhere. The extension will begin in 2017-18. He is scheduled to earn $3.2 million this coming season.

Last season was McCollum's breakout year, averaging just under 21 points per game on 41.7 percent 3-point shooting. He captured the NBA's Most Improved Player award as a result.
