The Cincinnati Reds are doing their due diligence in order to try and move Jay Bruce before the non-waiver trade deadline.

Discussions have picked up as the Reds are reportedly talking with at least four teams regarding Bruce, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN. Cincinnati is seeking a top prospect in return for the All-Star outfielder.

Bruce has spent his entire nine-year career with the Reds, but has been vocal this past month about wanting to play for a winning team. He believes it is in the best interest of the rebuilding club to try and trade him for a prospect.

After hitting .222/.288/.406 with 44 home runs the last two seasons, Bruce has done his part in upping his trade value by putting together a solid year. Through 93 games, Bruce is slashing .272/.326/.564 with 23 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 22 doubles.

The 29-year-old, who has a limited no-trade clause, comes with a $13-million team option for next season.
