Manchester United unveils Zlatan, Mkhitaryan squad numbers
With a potential blockbuster transfer reportedly days away, Manchester United has gone ahead and assigned squad numbers Thursday ahead of the 2016-17 campaigns, giving a trio of high-profile newcomers kit numbers for their United debuts.
Angular Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic received the No. 9 kit reserved for forwards, while former Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan got the No. 22 kit.
Centre-back addition Eric Bailly received the vacant No. 3 kit after his move from Villarreal and last summer's bank-breaker Anthony Martial swapped the No. 9 for 11.
Youngsters Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have been given numbers more fitting for first-team regulars after sparkling debut campaigns, with the former moving from 39 to 19 and the latter 35 to 14.
United is in China for the International Champions Cup, which starts Friday ahead of Monday's Manchester Derby against rival City.
