Nationals GM shoots down interest in Rockies' Blackmon

Kelley L Cox / USA TODAY Sports

Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon doesn't appear to be on the Washington Nationals radar after all.

Less than 24 hours after it was reported the Nationals were interested in the 30-year-old former All-Star, Washington general manager Mike Rizzo took to the airwaves to claim those rumors are false.

"You know, I don't comment on anything we're trying to do or not trying to do, but, uh, no," Rizzo told The Sports Junkies on Wednesday. "That one's not accurate."

Blackmon is enjoying a solid season in Colorado, hitting .307/.370/.484 with 12 home runs in 80 games and could've helped alleviate some of the Nationals concerns at the leadoff position. Instead, Rizzo appears set on addressing the bullpen as it's been reported the team is interested in New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman.
