Report: Thunder set sights on Griffin-Westbrook duo

Now that the Kevin Durant-Russell Westbrook era is over in Oklahoma City, the Thunder may be looking to form another dynamic pairing.

The club is believed to be interested in bringing home Blake Griffin - who's set to become a free agent in 2017 - to play alongside Westbrook. The Thunder have already begun making moves to free up salary-cap space so they can sign the Los Angeles Clippers big man.

Oklahoma City is trying to convince its All-NBA point guard - who's also slated to hit free agency next summer - to renegotiate his deal to keep him in a Thunder uniform through the 2017-18 campaign, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Westbrook and his representatives have been in touch with Thunder GM Sam Presti since Durant announced he's joining the Warriors, according to Wojnarowski's sources, but the California native has yet to decide whether he'll modify his contract to extend his stay at Chesapeke.

There's been speculation that Westbrook will follow KD's lead in leaving Oklahoma City once his pact expires - that is, if he isn't moved before that. However, Presti has reportedly shot down all trade inquiries for the former UCLA star, who's been described as "ticked off" about Durant's departure and "ready" to dominate the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Griffin - who's one of the top prizes in the next free-agent class - has also recently been linked to the Celtics in trade rumours.
