Portland Timbers sign Lithuanian defender Vytautas Andriuskevicius
The Portland Timbers announced Thursday the club has signed defender Vytautas Andriuskevicius, bringing on the Lithuania international - who last played with SC Cambuur in the Dutch Eredivisie - to the senior team.
The 25-year-old known as "Vytas" has 32 caps for Lithuania and joins Caleb Porter's team to compete with Jermaine Taylor and Chris Klute for a spot in the left-hand side of the back four.
"It has been our priority to acquire a left back in the summer transfer window, and we are pleased to welcome Vytas to the club," club general manager Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement. "We have been looking to add a more natural left back that fits our system on both sides of the ball during this window, and we feel Vytas is a good fit for our club and the league."
