West Ham co-owner slaps £100M price tag on Payet

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has seemingly doubled the team's valuation of Dimitri Payet.

A day after his business partner, David Gold, said the French star would not be sold for less than £50 million, Sullivan believes Payet is worth £100 million, which would be a world-record transfer fee.

Sullivan added that he's prepared for a summer of "silliness" as teams throughout Europe circle the Olympic Stadium in hopes of signing the in-form playmaker.

"There might be six weeks of silliness when he bangs the table," Sullivan said in an interview with the Daily Mail. "But if you believe what he says, he wants to stay.

"The joke is somebody bids £30 million for him, you can't buy anything for £30 million anymore. Just because he can get more money there, he expects us to sell him? Well, we're not selling anybody.

"If they want to break the world record we might consider it, because it's not then one-sided."

Sullivan added, "He's worth £100 million, even at his age. But he's not for sale. Just because a big club wants him, tough luck. He's signed a contract. You take the rough and smooth of a contract."

Although the 29-year-old is already believed to be the highest paid player at West Ham, Sullivan could be prepared to bump his weekly wages up from £120,000 to £150,000 if Payet continues to perform at an elite level until the holiday season.

After arriving at West Ham from Marseille last summer for a reported transfer fee close to £11 million, Payet went on to become one of the Premier League's top players and finished as a finalist for Player of the Year award behind winner Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.
