CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay coach Dave Loos will require chemotherapy after having surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his colon.

The school announced Loos' condition Monday in a release. School officials said Loos is expected to make a full recovery and return for the 2016-17 season, though Jay Bowen is taking over the program's day-to-day operations on an interim basis.

School officials said the tumor was discovered during a recent medical exam. The school release said the tumor was successfully removed but had spread to one out of 23 lymph nodes in the area.

Loos has a 409-391 record in 26 seasons at Austin Peay and is 491-444 in 30 seasons overall. Austin Peay went 18-18 last season and earned its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in Loos' tenure.
