In their first season without Marshawn Lynch since 2009, the Seattle Seahawks will have their new lead back ready for the start of training camp.

Thomas Rawls finished the 2015 season on injured reserve after fracturing his ankle in a Week 14 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Pete Carroll said he expected him to be healthy by Week 1 of the regular season, but the 22-year-old running back is planning to return even earlier.

At teammate Richard Sherman's charity softball event Sunday, Rawls said he'll "most definitely" be at full strength for the beginning of Seahawks training camp July 30, according to ESPN's Sheil Kapadia.

"Rehab is going phenomenal," Rawls said. "Running, cutting, working hard, getting back out there. I'm looking forward to being out there the first week. Rehab has been going phenomenal this whole offseason. I don't have a break because I've gotta work 10 times harder. So I'm excited to come back and fill that void in that backfield."

Rawls is expected to be the starting back next season after starting seven games as a rookie, though he'll be joined by a trio of running backs added at the draft.

The second-year runner registered 830 yards on 147 attempts with five total touchdowns last season.
