Report: Saric likely to remain in Europe this season

Despite a previously stated desire to come to the NBA this season, former first-round pick Dario Saric might not be on the Philadelphia 76ers roster come October.

Saric told reporters last month that he would be joining the 76ers this summer, though one source told Tom Moore of the Courier Times on Thursday that the combination of potential earnings and the team's drafting of Ben Simmons will prevent the 22-year-old from making the move.

"He makes 1.5 million Euros ($1.66 million US) playing in Turkey," the source said. "It's a comfortable living. Why come over and risk that and go back to the rookie-scale contract when you've completed two-thirds of not having to be on the rookie scale? This is before the draft."

He added: "(Saric's parents are) counting every dollar because this is their gravy train."

Saric was selected 12th overall by the Orlando Magic in 2014 and immediately flipped to the 76ers. The 6-foot-9 forward spent the last two seasons playing in Turkey with Anadolu Efes. He'd likely start his tenure in Philadelphia on the bench as he and Simmons share a position.

"He's not coming over to be a backup," said the source. "Why would he come over now? How is he going to play?"
