Jouban wins decision in entertaining tilt against Muhammad

Alan Jouban outlasted a hungry opponent looking to make a big first impression on the UFC.

Debutant Belal Muhammad goes by the moniker "Remember the Name" and fans are sure to do just that after he went three action-packed rounds with Jouban.

The two welterweights threw hands into the final seconds, much to the delight of the Las Vegas crowd at UFC Fight Night 90 on Thursday.

In the end, Jouban walked out with the unanimous decision win on the strength of his work in the first two rounds.

It was the fourth win in five appearances for Jouban, who called for a top-15 opponent after the fight.

The match looked like it would be a blowout early on. Muhammad was stepping in as a replacement for Nordine Taleb on less than a month's notice and he played the part of a UFC rookie as he was knocked down twice by Jouban in the first round.

Muhammad showed a ton of heart, first surviving a left hook that left him stunned and then a head kick that caught him flush on the jaw.

The second round didn't go much better for Muhammad. He was put in danger by another left hook, but again found the resolve to stay in the fight.

That resilience paid off in the third when Muhammad almost completed a furious comeback. Unfortunately, it was too little too late and he would go on to lose for the first time in 10 career fights.
