Report: Elway tells Miller the Broncos still love him, want to re-sign him

There has been little doubt that the Denver Broncos are intent on keeping star linebacker Von Miller for the foreseeable future, but with contract extension talks failing to produce a long-term deal, questions began to surface about whether their relationship was beyond repair.

General manager John Elway has apparently taken action to rectify this, reaching out to Miller over the Fourth of July weekend to let the Super Bowl 50 MVP know how much the franchise values him, and that they still want to re-sign him, league sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Elway told Miller the Broncos will attempt to jump-start negotiations with his representation this week, notes Schefter.

The Broncos and Miller's reps are believed to have tentatively reopened negotiations, although no new contract terms have been discussed to improve the six-year, $114.5-million offer already rejected by the 27-year-old.

The two parties have until July 15 to come to terms on a contract extension. If they don't, Miller would only be able to play under the franchise tag - an option he's said he's definitely unwilling to take.
