Green on Durant: 'He doesn't have to change how he plays'
With such a breathtaking collection of talent on one basketball team, the only thing one can do to try and detract from the Golden State Warriors is question things like "fit."
How will Kevin Durant fit in with a revolutionary squad that has won 140 games over the past two seasons?
Probably quite well. Draymond Green, for one, doesn't anticipate Durant needing to adjust his game.
"We told him he didn't have to change who he is," Green told ESPN's Marc J. Spears in the wake of Durant's announcement Monday. "He doesn’t have to change how he plays. We will get him shots. If he shot 40 percent from 3-point line contested, how would he shoot wide open?" Green said.
On paper, Durant joining the Warriors is sensory overload. In practice, it should be the same. Open shots will be aplenty thanks to the team's mastery of screens, but it's Durant's length on the defensive end where perhaps his biggest impact could be.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to add one of the best players in the world to our team and welcome him to our brotherhood," Green said. "This will be some of the best times of our lives and I'm looking forward to it."
