Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson says he can't afford to pay for a lawyer for his pending assault case and needs a public defender, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

Jackson is facing charges for an incident in which he is alleged to have pulled a gun on his wife and threatened to shoot her.

Despite earning in the neighborhood of $12 million over his 11-year career, according to Spotrac, Jackson claims to have no cash, no savings and no investments beyond a $100,000 car.

The judge reportedly denied Jackson's request for a public defender.
