The New York Knicks and unrestricted free-agent center Joakim Noah are discussing the framework of a potential four-year contract worth more than $70 million early Friday, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The two parties will reportedly meet in Orlando on Friday to continue negotiations.

The Knicks have been considered the favorites to land the 31-year-old big man since the team acquired his close friend and former league MVP Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls landed center Robin Lopez in the deal.

Noah also grew up in the New York area. He's a two-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.

In 29 games last season in the Windy City, Noah averaged a career-low 4.3 points while shooting just 38.3 percent from the field. He sat out the majority of the year after undergoing season-ending surgery on his left shoulder in January.
