President Obama calls Summitt 'a role model to millions'
When Pat Summitt died early Tuesday morning, the world of sports lost what President Barack Obama called "a role model to millions."
In the wake of Summitt's death, the outpouring of condolences and memories stretched from coast to coast and beyond. President Obama released a statement of kind words detailing the impact Summitt had on himself as well as his family.

President Obama awarded Summitt the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

Summitt led Tennessee to 1,098 wins over her 38-year career which included eight national championships. Only UCLA's John Wooden has more career national titles than the iconic Lady Volunteers leader.
