Report: Wolfsburg looks to scoop AZ stud Janssen from Tottenham's grasp
With Tottenham slated to snap up coveted AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen during the summer transfer window, Bundesliga boys Wolfsburg have reportedly thrown their hats in the ring for the 21-year-old.
Looking to add a complement to England international Harry Kane, speculation suggested that Tottenham would secure the services of the Feyenoord academy product, though now it appears that Wolfsburg could be in play, according Sky Sports.
AZ Alkmaar has given Janssen permission to speak with just the two clubs, and while Tottenham was the initial front-runner for the five-time capped Dutch international, the Lower Saxons have stepped up their interest.
Janssen enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Cheeseheads, banging in 27 goals with four assists in 34 league matches for the fourth-place side.
Reportedly valued at €10 million by the Eredivisie side, Alkmaar's asking price is minuscule compared to ones for Tottenham's other striker targets, Marseille's Belgian international Michy Batshuayi and Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette.
