Report: Mariners reach deal with 1st-round pick Kyle Lewis

The Seattle Mariners didn't waste any time locking up Kyle Lewis.

The team has reportedly inked the 11th overall pick to an entry-level contract pending a physical, according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune. He's reportedly scheduled to take batting practice at Safeco Field on Saturday.

A dollar value of the deal is not known, though Major League Baseball gave the No. 11 pick a bonus value of $3,286,700. Seattle has an allotment of $7,136,000 available to spend in total on their draft picks in the first 10 rounds.

Lewis, the first athlete in the history of Mercer University to be a first-round pick in any of the MLB, NBA, or NFL drafts, hit .367 with 17 homers for the Bears this season. The 20-year-old outfielder was named Baseball America's 2016 College Player of the Year, and was ranked No. 3 on MLB Pipeline's top 200 draft prospects list.
