Watch: Dempsey converts penalty for 50th international goal
Jurgen Klinsmann received a lifeline on Tuesday.
In only the seventh minute of the United States Men's National Team's must-win fixture against Costa Rica at the Copa America Centenario, the USMNT was awarded a penalty kick when Bobby Wood was pushed down by Cristian Gamboa in front of referee Roddy Zambrano.
After being made to wait while Patrick Pemberton spoke to Zambrano, Clint Dempsey stepped up and took a wonderful penalty, slotting the ball to the keeper's left and into the far corner to tally his 50th career goal for the USMNT.

Of note, it was at Soldier Field where Dempsey scored his first international goal on May 28, 2005, when he headed a rebound past David James in the USMNT's 2-1 defeat to England.
