DeMarcus Cousins has been told he has earned a spot on this summer's USA Basketball team that will compete in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, according to The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.
The Sacramento Kings' center making the squad would hardly be a surprise given his place as one of the top big men in the NBA. It would be the 25-year-old's first Olympics, having served national team duty two years ago in the FIBA World Cup. Cousins was scheduled to undergo multiple foot procedures in the offseason with the stated goal of being ready for Team USA.
Cousins has averaged 24.5 points and just under 12 rebounds per game in his last three NBA seasons.
