Elway aims to finish negotiations with Miller, Sanders by July

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway possesses the unenviable task of juggling a number of prospective contract extensions this summer.

After the Broncos won Super Bowl 50, Von Miller, Emmanuel Sanders, and Brandon Marshall are all seeking lucrative deals as free agents.

The Broncos placed the franchise tag on Miller, a designation that he's yet to sign. If the two parties cannot reach a long-term deal by July 15, Miller will play under the stipulations of the franchise tag that will pay him upwards of $14 million for the 2016 campaign.

Elway is looking to reach long-term deals with all three players.

"The ideal thing would be to get all three of them done (by mid-July)," Elway said to Paul Klee of the Colorado Springs Gazette. "That's kind of the goal."

Miller appears likely to become the highest-paid linebacker in NFL history, cementing his case after winning Super Bowl MVP. Whether the team reaches this goal ahead of the deadline seems to be the only question at the moment.

It's eminently difficult to retain talented players and Elway certainly will need to work his magic once again this summer.
