4-star QB Kellen Mond decommits from Baylor
Baylor's 2017 recruiting class continues to be decimated by Art Briles' dismissal, as four-star quarterback Kellen Mond became the fifth member to back out on his commitment to the school.
"I have made the decision to decommit from Baylor University," Mond wrote on Twitter. "When I committed last summer, the primary basis was due to having the leadership of Art Briles and (Kendal) Briles as a great football foundation."
While Art Briles is no longer with the football program, Kendal remains the offensive coordinator under new coach Jim Grobe. Despite that fact, Mond has decided to play his college football elsewhere.
The 6-foot-4, 202-pounder is ranked as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the country, and is 48th overall on the ESPN 300. With Mond's decision, Baylor's 2017 class now only holds one commitment, three-star safety Jalen Pitre.
With many of the players from last season's Bears roster returning, the program may be able to maintain its form in 2016, but with almost the entire 2017 recruiting class leaving, Baylor's future looks extremely bleak.
