Shields shelled for 10 earned runs, tying career high
The Chicago White Sox might be reconsidering a potential trade for James Shields for more reasons than just money.
The San Diego Padres starter was clobbered for 10 earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, matching his career high for allowed runs in a single contest. He also surrendered eight hits, two home runs, and four walks before being pulled in the second inning for reliever Luis Perdomo.

Shields - who's now allowed double-digit runs on five different occasions in his career - saw his ERA jump from 3.06 to 4.28 after Tuesday's shortened start.
The last time he allowed 10 runs in a start was on Sept. 6, 2013, as a member of the Kansas City Royals against the Detroit Tigers.
